Korean on her finishing a degree in Filipino: 'Ikinararangal ko po'
A Korean student who finished a degree in Filipino earned a lot of praise online from Pinoys.
In a recent post on Facebook, Professor Jovy Peregrino of the University of the Philippines congratulated Kim Jeeyoon for graduating from Busan University of Foreign Studies where she majored in Filipino.
Netizens who shared in the excitement shared the post more than 800 times and attracted responses from more than 1,800 people as of this posting.
In her own post, Kim expressed gratitude –in Filipino, of course.
"Nakatanggap po ako ng maraming pagbati sa aking pagtatapos.
kaya masaya po ako ngayon. Ikinararangal ko po," she wrote.
"Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat."
The graduate said it was the friends she made that inspired her to pursue a degree in Filipino.
"I met lots of friends there, I got happy memory," Kim told GMA News Online. "I really wanted to know about filipino culture and language deeply, so I majored in Filipino."
Kim said it was a "great honor" to be able to share her achievement with so many Filipinos, who sent her kind messages and congratulations.
"Thank you so much all the peoples those who celebrated my graduation," she said.
She added: "I also know there are many foreigners who study Filipino...All of us really love filipino culture and language. And I also know, there are many Pilipino those who studied Korean. Thank you to them to study Korean and our culture. I hope this kind of exchanging still continues."
"Nakita ko sa kanya ang tunay na interes matuto ng Filipino at kulturang pilipino dahil na rin sa mga posibilidad na maaring magbukas sa kanya," Peregrino, who was one of her professors at Busan University of Foreign Studies, shared.
Kim's Facebook post last August 27 got almost 100 shares, as well as a lot of congratulatory "pagbati" comments from Pinoys. —LBG/KBK, GMA News
