Maine Mendoza starts donation drive for daily wage earners amid enhanced community quarantine
Maine Mendoza has started a donation drive for daily wage earners whose livelihoods were hit by the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
In a post on her Facebook page, The Phenomenal Star asked netizens to contribute to the cause and called for those in need to get in touch.
She said she will send P1,000 via G-cash to every household for food and other essentials.
"Consider yourself blessed, if despite all, you can purchase food and sanitation supplies (even hoard!) for your homes," Maine said. "But what about those workers who live on a day-to-day basis? Now that they are obliged not to go to work, how can they survive?"
Those who are in need of assistance must send an email to DoNation.drive@yahoo.com and provide proof that they are "currently employed but required not to work until our situation improves."
Meanwhile, those interested in extending help can wire their donations to 09563890291.
"I will personally facilitate all the donations and I will TRY my best to accommodate as many people as I can," Maine said. "I will also provide proof of transactions to the donors for transparency purposes if they wish."
Other celebrities have conducted similar initiatives such as Bela Padilla, who raised over P3.3 million for street vendors.
Musician and composer Ryan Cayabyab also launched a series of Facebook live concerts to raise funds for vulnerable sectors affected by the disruptions due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
