Children shelters call for donations amid enhanced community quarantine

Shelters for abandoned and sexually abused children call for donations as their supplies may soon be depleted amid the enhanced community quarantine.

Metro Manila-based shelters Concordia Children's Services, Inc. (CCSI) and Meritxell Children's World Foundation, along with CRIBS Foundation located in Antipolo, shared on their social media accounts that their children and caretakers are safe from harm and from the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread.

They have also postponed volunteer interaction to stop the virus from spreading.

"However, please don't forget our children," CCSI said. "They need our help especially in this month of uncertainties. Help us fill our essential supplies for this month."

The shelters reached out to the public for any donation, especially vitamins, as they continue to serve the children during the month-long lockdown.

"In these period of difficulty, we can only pray for everyone's safety and that everything will be back to normal soon," CRIBS added.

The Luzon-wide quarantine started on March 17 and will end on April 13, which includes suspension of classes for all levels and strict home quarantine.

The Philippines, under a state of calamity since Monday, has 217 confirmed cases and 17 deaths due to COVID-19, according to the Department of Health.
