Delivery guys spotted giving away food in Quiapo on Easter Sunday

A group of delivery drivers gave away free food to strangers near the Quiapo church on Easter Sunday.

Their act of kindness was caught on video by Karla Orozco, who was out to bring some supplies to her cousin in the area.

The uniformed delivery motorcycle guys pulled out bags of food and drinks out of their delivery packs and offered them to people along the street.

According to Karla, witnessing such a moment made her Easter Sunday more “meaningful” amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in the country.

On Sunday, another delivery guy went viral for saving his tips to buy bread which he gives away to people on the street.

As essential personnel, delivery workers risk exposure to COVID-19 to continue doing their jobs. Despite their sacrifices, they face discrimination from those who are afraid of catching the disease.

Luzon remains under enhanced community quarantine as a measure to curb the spread of the virus.

With the loss of livelihood, many families depend on aid from the government in order to survive.

As of Monday, the Philippines has 4,932 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 315 deaths and 242 recoveries. --Margaret Claire Layug/MGP, GMA News
