'Encantadia' Sang’gres take on ‘black & white challenge’ together
The Sang’gres of “Encantadia” continue to encourage women to become strong and independent through the “black and white challenge” circulating social media.
Sunshine Dizon, Diana Zubiri-Smith and Karylle, who played Sang’gres Pirena, Danaya and Alena in the original 2005 series, joined director Mark Reyes for a video call and took a “photo” together.
Direk Mark posted the screen shot on Instagram in black and white, and captioned it: “We always accept any challenge.”
While Iza Calzado, who played Sang’gre Amihan, was not in the photo, Direk Mark tagged her and sent her a special shoutout saying they were all “missing” her.
If you’ve been scrolling through Facebook and Instagram lately, you may have noticed that a lot of women (and sometimes, men) are posting black and white photos of themselves then captioning it: “Challenge accepted.”
This trend, known as the "Black and White Challenge" campaign, aims to promote self-love and acceptance and solidarity among women.
Popular female figures like Vice President Leni Robredo and celebrities like Heart Evagelista, Solenn Heussaff, and Lovi Poe have taken on the challenge to spread word.
And now joining them are three iconic “Sang’gres” who have inspired many Filipino girls to stay strong and keep fighting for what they believe in on the popular fantasy TV series “Encantadia.” — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
