Gigantic moonfish caught in Eastern Samar after earthquake hit Masbate

A gigantic moonfish, also known as opah, was caught in Barangay Santa Monica in Oras, Eastern Samar, after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit Masbate.

According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Eastern Samar, there was a possibility that the moonfish swam to shallow waters after the earthquake.

YouScooper Ranilo Ebron shared that local fisherman Archie Balibalos caught the fish.

Since its capture, the moonfish, which has the scientific name of Lampris guttatus, has already been sold at the market. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
