This bakeshop comes for tita-shamers in baffling viral commercial

You thought RC Cola's commercial was weird — get ready for Julie's Bakeshop's latest ad.

For its 40th anniversary, the shop released a baffling "Masa Hero" commercial that left netizens in confusion, shock, and amusement.

The video starts with two middle-aged ladies working out in a gym, only to be "tita-shamed" by a man.

Tita Julie enters the scene and quite literally made pandesal out of him.

Shortly after the video's release, #StopTitaShaming trended on Twitter. Netizens seem to be torn between wanting to support the commercial and feeling disturbed.

In a statement, Marc San Juan, National Marketing Head of Julie’s Bakeshop, said that "titas can be cool and very dynamic."

"Our founder, Mrs. Julie Gandionco, was already in her 50s when she decided to start her own bakeshop.  Now it’s grown to a network of more than 450 stores all over the Philippines,” he said.

In November last year, RC Cola released a now-viral Kafkaesque ad that also left netizens confused. —JCB, GMA News
