Delivery rider’s ‘kaya pa’ text message to mom goes viral

Internet users have shown their appreciation for a delivery rider for his perseverance despite the typhoon.

As reported by Victoria Tulad on “24 Oras” Friday, 18-year-old Jude Martin Negrido went viral after he posted a screenshot of his recent text message exchange with his mother.

On July 23, Jude’s mother asked him to stop working due to the heavy rains and floods and told him she would pick him up.

However, he refused and replied with, “kaya pa ma hahahaha iloveyou,” and even shared a smiling selfie while holding the small package he was about to deliver.

Jude said he was determined to finish delivering the packages because he was after the performance incentive, which cost PHP15 per parcel.

“Hinahabol ko po talaga ’yung performance namin,” he said.

He said the extra income would help his family, especially his father whose income was affected because of the pandemic, and his mother who had a heart disease.

Apart from the inclement weather, delivery riders sometimes also had to deal with difficult customers.

“Pag late po magagalit na, kanina pa daw po silang naghihintay,” said Jude.

Faced with these challenges and threats, Jude couldn’t help but be emotional.

“Minsan, parang, bakit po ganito? Pero sabi ko okay lang po, ganito binigay ni God eh. Parang challenge na rin po ito. Mas maganda po kahit mahirap ka labanan mo yung hirap.”

Jude said his dream was to become a policeman. This schoolyear, he will be an incoming freshman studying criminology.

While studying, however, he will still continue being a delivery rider. – RC, GMA News
