"1 BILLION views for Never Gonna Give You Up on @youtube ! Amazing, crazy, wonderful!" Astley wrote in Instagram as he celebrated the milestone.

While the song was released in 1987, the MV was only posted on Astley's YouTube channel in 2009.

And if you're wondering how it got that many streams, it might just be thanks to the "Rickrolling" prank-slash-meme — if you've ever been a victim of an unexpected appearance of the MV, you'd understand.

To celebrate the feat, Astley said he will be releasing 2,500 copies of a limited edition blue vinyl of the song, all of which he will sign.
