Pampanga resident gets vaccinated, wins a cow
After getting vaccinated, this woman didn’t think she would take another Johnson.
As reported by Oscar Oida on “24 Oras” Friday, Melania Sarmiento of San Luis, Pampanga, won a male cow after getting her Johnson and Johnson vaccine dose on July 24.
Melania, 51, said she named her new cow “Magic Johnson” after her Janssen vaccine shot and her idol basketball player.
The cow was raffled off by the San Luis local government to its constituents as part of its efforts to promote vaccination against COVID-19.
According to local disaster risk reduction and management officer Ardee Taruc, all vaccinated residents are qualified to join their “Baka Para Sa Bakuna” raffle, even those who are just on their first dose.
Asked for her reaction after winning, Melanie couldn’t help but exclaim with happiness.
“Ay lundag po ako ng lundag, talon ako ng talon kasi nanalo po ako ng baka. Tuwang tuwa po ako,” she said, laughing.
According to Melania, she got vaccinated to protect her children. “Baka po mahawa ’yung mga anak ko sakaling magkaroon ako ng COVID, ’yun po ang kinakatakutan ko.”
After being inoculated, she said she felt relieved. “Pagkatapos ko po na-inject, nawala na rin ’yung kaba ko. Nagka-peace of mind na rin po ako.”
And best of all, she won a cow!
To those who are still unsure about getting vaccinated, Melania has this to say: “Sana magpabakuna na rin po sila. Huwag na sila matakot sa bakuna.” – RC, GMA News
