OFW’s surprise home visit video goes viral
Overseas Filipino worker Ann Fontanilla recently made a video call to her family in the Philippines. What they didn’t know was she was already outside their door.
As reported by Oscar Oida on “24 Oras” Tuesday, Ann took a video of her surprise visit back home, which had since gone viral.
With her phone still in her hand, Ann’s sisters immediately rushed to her and showered her with hugs. They couldn’t help but cry tears of joy as they reunited after four long years.
Ann said she decided to go home after their 88-year-old mom Aurelia suffered a stroke.
“Naisip ko, what if may mangyari kay nanay? Ayoko namang umuwi na wala na siya. Nagde-dementia na siya. Ayoko naman umuwi na hindi na niya ako maalala,” she said.
As of posting, Ann’s video has received over a million views. She believed their emotional reunion resonated with many people and served as a reminder for others to spend their time well with their loved ones.
“Hindi importante’ yung distance o pera o kung nasaan ka. Ang importante ay magkakasama kayo and the other thing that I see is ’yung respeto sa magulang, pagmamahal sa magulang,” she said.
Ann stayed in the Philippines for two weeks before going back to Canada on April 21. She said she was looking forward to being with her family again soon. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
