OTS sees minor lapses in alleged 'unprofessional' behavior of airport security towards ENHYPEN
The Office of Transportation Security said they saw minor lapses in the frisking incident between an airport security and ENHYPEN.
A video of the incident went viral on Monday, showing a female staff patting down at least two members of ENHYPEN and asking at least three of them to lower their face masks.
Netizens deemed it "unprofessional" behavior, as the staff appeared to be giggling while frisking the K-pop stars.
In Mark Salazar's report on "24 Oras," USec. MA.O R. Aplasca, OTS administrator explained the standard operating procedure for frisking at the airport.
"As much as possible, male to male 'yung mag-co-conduct ng pat down, female to female," said . "But in some areas, lalo na sa probinsya, we allow 'yung babae to pat down 'yung mga male passengers but not male OTS personnel to pat down female."
"Pero in Manila International Airport, we have enough male personnel to conduct pat down doon sa mga lalaking mga pasahero."
In terms of the airport staff motioning the band members to lower their face masks, Aplasca said it's not part of the procedure and they encourage passengers passing the checkpoint to wear masks.
The OTS will still investigate the incident to correct any lapses in the procedure.
"Titingnan din namin kasi ang mga checkpoints namin normally meron kaming supervisors dyan so dapat kung may mali na nakikita, the supervisors should correct it immediately," he said.
Aplasca also reiterated the prohibition of taking videos at the security checkpoints, especially by airport staff.
"Ang pagkukuha ng video in our security checkpoint is not allowed. We consider it as a breach of security, lalo na kung malaman namin baka mamaya 'yung OTS personnel pa ang kumuha ng video. That's against our policy," he said.
