Michelle Dee pokes fun on her throwback 'pogi photos': 'The only crime I have committed was my sense of style'

Michelle Dee, who recently came out as bisexual, poked fun on the throwback photos of her "tomboy era" which surfaced online.

The photos showed Michelle when she was a teenager, and some netizens called her "pogi" due to her boyish clothes and hair cuts.

In Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Michelle said she came out to control her own narrative.

"I don't allow people to judge me based on my past. These [were] photos taken in 2014, again I wasn't doing anything wrong," she said.

"The only crime I committed was my sense of style," she quipped.

Asked how her parents reacted to her sexuality, Michelle said they have always had an inkling, especially her mom Melanie Marquez.

"S'yempre nanay ko queen of the gays 'yan. So she would tease me here and there but I never gave them a confirmation. I was always true to myself how I acted around them, I was very boyish, I was very athletic," she said.

So did Michelle ever date a girl in showbiz?

"Girlfriend as in exclusive, committed? Wala," she said. "I've had situationships that didn't last naman."

Michelle also said she doesn't think her coming out would have an affect on her career and her performance in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador.

"I don't think it will have a negative effect especially when I am sure of the woman I am presenting. I am a strong empowered pinay, whatever label people try to give me that will not sway what I believe I am."
