53-year-old man graduates senior high school: 'Hindi pa naman huli ang lahat'

A 53-year-old man is inspiring many as he graduates from senior high school and is now eyeing college.

According to a report on "Saksi," Elmer Laos previously tried looking for a job in Metro Manila, but was not accepted because he only finished elementary school.

"Umuwi po ako noon, para akong nanlulumo, pinagpawisan nga ako noon eh," Elmer said in an interview.

He then made it a mission to complete his studies.

Through blended learning, he was able to graduate from high school, and was even named the "most inspiring student" in his batch.

Teacher Annalyn Casipong expressed pride over Elmer and his achievements, saying, "Kahit sa kabila ng hirap na ang kanyang mga magulang ay parehas na magsasaka at saka siya ang panganay sa magkakapatid, gusto niya paring maabot ang mga pangarap niya."

Elmer is now applying for college, proving that it's never too late to achieve your dreams.

"Dala lang din ng kahirapan pero kung pinagpatuloy ko ‘yung pag-aaral ko noong araw, baka kung hindi ako teacher, ano na ako ngayon, engineer," he said.

"Pero hindi pa naman huli ang lahat, huwag tayong mawalan ng pag-asa," he added. "Habang nabubuhay tayo dito sa mundo, laban lang." —JCB, GMA Integrated News
