Teacher goes viral for taking care of student's child in class

Photos of a teacher taking care of her student’s child while she was teaching in class have gone viral.

According to a report on "Unang Balita" on Tuesday, a 19-year-old student at the Allen National High School in Northern Samar brought her one-year-old baby to class because there were no other guardians.

Rosalyn Doma, her teacher, gamely took care of the baby for her.

“Before mag-end ang aming klase, may activity akong pinagawa sa kanila. By that time naman, nakatulog na pala 'yung baby. Kalong kalong ng nanay,” Rosalyn said.

When she saw that her student was struggling with the seatwork while holding the baby, Rosalyn offered to carry the baby. The student said yes.

“Nahihirapan kasi si ma’am na nahihirapan ako gumawa ng activity,” the student said.

“Nararamdaman ko po 'yung malasakit ni Ma’am Rosalyn sa anak ko at sa akin,” she added.

More of Rosalyn’s students said in video messages that they appreciate her, and are proud because she did not think twice about helping their classmate.

“Marami talagang na-proud at na-touch sa ‘min sa classroom dahil po sa ginawa ni ma’am,” a student said.

Rosalyn is also a mother, and understands the challenges of her students. She added that she admires her student for continuing her studies despite the hurdles.

“Sana bigyan nila ng halaga ang pagpupursigi na makapag-aral, makapagtapos ng pag-aaral, sapagkat ito ang magiging pundasyon nila para sa kanilang magandang kinabukasan,” she said. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
