Gloria Diaz praises Maxine's performance: I think she did perfect, ang galing-galing niya

Former Miss Universe titleholders Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran were both on hand when a new queen was crowned at Monday's finale at Mall of Asia Arena.

Philippines bet Maxine Medina failed to follow in their footsteps, making it only up to the top six of the competition.

What did Diaz and Moran think about Medina's performance?

"I think she did perfect. Ang galing-galing niya. Actually while I was watching, ako ang ninenerbyos. Ang lamig-lamig ng kamay ko," said Diaz, who drew criticism prior to the coronation event for saying that Medina had little chance to win because the pageant was being held in her home country.

"But you know, this is our country. You have to just wish that everybody was happy. Everybody was safe. 'Yun ang pinaka-importante."

Moran, meanwhile, said Medina could've used her interpreter to answer her question.

"She did the best she could. To me sana, nag-answer na lang siya sa Tagalog. I think she would've been more comfortable because 'di siya nag-interpreter," Moran said.

Medina became the first Filipino beauty queen to make use of an interpreter in the competition after making it to the final six. But while the question was translated for her, she still chose to answer her question in English. —JST, GMA News
