‘Instant Doodles: The Fourth Bowlful’ presents love of music, sketches, komiks

If you haven't yet, it's not too late, for artist and organizer Piaget Martelino is organizing the fourth installment of a series of exhibits featuring the works of artists from all walks of life on February 15 at the Cervio Art Haus in Pasig.
Called “Instant Doodles: The Fourth Bowlful” and subtitled “An All Drawing Exhibition,” it will not only showcase the drawings of 88 artists, some of whom are from the Saturday Sketchings Session Artists, but also 20 early works and other personal memorabilia of the father of Philippine comics and pioneer of the local komiks industry, Tony Velasquez.
Velasquez was the creator of “Ponyang Halobaybay” and “Kenkoy,” both of which were serialized for decades in Tagalog-language magazine “Liwayway”. “Ponyang Halobaybay” was a portrait of the modern and materialistic Filipina, while “Kenkoy” was considered the Philippines's “first true pop culture icon.”
Aside from the exhibit, there will also be a Live Art session by the Saturday Sketchings Session Artists, as well as live performances by Aldous Castro, The Rudy Manlapat Project, Guy Sacerdoti of SNAFU!, Flippin' Soul Stompers, and Esther. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own instruments should they like to perform onstage.
