This is not your ordinary Flores de Mayo Santacruzan.

Clad in colorful mermaid suits, swimmers at the Manila Ocean Park in Manila staged a whimsical underwater Santacruzan as the park celebrated Flores de Mayo, one of the annual festivals in the country highlighting the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

People watched as swimmers dressed as these mythical sea creatures participated in a synchronized swimming performance at the park.

In an interview aired on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, Manila Ocean Park's senior marketing head Antonette Gonzales said the show is also a call for Filipinos to take care of the environment, especially marine life.

She added that one way of helping is proper disposal of trash.

"There should be mag-light ng advocacy ng each and every Filipino na let's not put the trash kung saan hindi dapat paglagyan niya because all the rivers are connected," she said.
