The Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) is set to mount an all-female art exhibition, "AAP Kababaihan, Exhibit sa Kanlungan," on September 20 at the Kanlungang Sining Gallery, Rizal Park, Manila.

In a press statement released Tuesday, AAP said that the exhibition will feature and promote works by its female officers and members from across the Philippines and overseas.

AAP president Fidel Sarmiento believes that the show will generate interest and awareness of the role female artists play in the overall art scene in the Philippines.

"While we have a predominantly male dominated art scene in the Philippines, we are proud to be working along our female members and fellow artists who we felt deserve equal recognition for their talent and contribution to Philippines art movement," he stated.

The all-female group art exhibit is also a testament to AAP's dedication to uplift the women members of the organization and give them the opportunity to be recognized in general, Fidel added.

Art pieces that will be on display in "AAP Kababaihan, Exhibit sa Kanlungan" include 2-D and 3-D works in various mediums oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, gouache, mix media, sculpture and assemblage art.

?The Art Association of the Philippines is the oldest surviving artist organization in the country. It is founded in1948 by a group of artists headed by art patron Purita Kalaw-Ledesma. Today, the AAP has 3,000 artists from different media all aimed to pursue the higher developmental and progressive needs of the artistic community.
