Cebu artists gather for fundraising concert for SAF 44
Some 30 artists in Cebu province gathered in Cebu City on Tuesday to take part in a fundraising concert for the 44 Special Action Force troopers slain in a clash in Mamsapano, Maguindanao last Jan. 25.
The concert dubbed "Halad sa 44 (Alay sa 44)" was held at a major mall in Cebu City, GMA Cebu reported on Wednesday.
It started at 1 p.m. and lasted until 7 p.m., where artists performed songs, dances, hip-hop and beat box numbers to the delight of the audience.
Donations from the concert would go to the relatives left behind by the Cebuano SAF members killed in the Jan. 25 incident - PO2 Romeo Cempron and PO1 Windel Candano.
Aside from the SAF 44, 18 Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters and several civilians were killed in the Jan. 25 incident.
The death of the SAF 44 triggered an outpouring of sympathy from Filipinos. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
