Pinoy’s ‘tsinelas painting’ of Pacquiao among finalists in Ripley’s art contest
A Filipino artist's painting of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao was named one of the top 25 entries in The Ripley exhibit collection's #RipCycle, an art contest focused on works made from recycled materials.
Titled "Boxer Slipper Painting - Colored," the painting by La Union-based Alger Guevarra used old slippers ground to dust for use as pigments for the canvas-based work.

Guevarra's friends even linked the painting to Pacquiao's Facebook page in hopes of boosting its rank in Ripley's contest.
Netizens can vote for the "slipper painting" on the #RipCycle page. The lucky contestant may win up to $2,000 and a feature in the Ripley's book and cartoon.
Prior to his entry to the contest, Guevarra was a resident artist in the Cavite-based gallery Espasyo by sound artist Lirio Salvador until its closure. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
