21-year-old illustrator wins ‘Heneral Luna’ fan art contest
Historical biopic "Heneral Luna" has not just received an overwhelming amount of good reviews and sparked intense discussions about history and what it means to be a Filipino. It has also inspired many Filipinos to pay tribute both to the hero and the film through fan art.
Due to the number of fan artworks uploaded online, the people behind the film decided to conduct a contest for the best one, to be awarded a bookstore gift certificate worth P5,000 and a copy of the book “Heneral Luna: The History behind the Movie.” The runners-up will be receiving posters signed by the "Heneral Luna" cast.
From hundreds of entries from different social media platforms, 21-year-old animator and illustrator Edwig Paguia's pen-and-ink illustration took the grand prize.
