And the UP Lantern Parade winners are...

The winning floats at this year's University of the Philippines-Diliman Lantern Parade have been announced.

In the winner's spot is the College of Engineering's entry. Its colorful entry included a figure with its arms outstretched like the UP's own Oblation, but with a heart afire. The float also included an array of lights that lit up in time to the theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey."

In second place was the College of Architecture's float, which showed houses with a Maranao/sarimanok design theme.

Taking third place was the float from the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG), which had a lareg sun with rotating rays looming over buildings.

The theme of this year's Lantern Parade was "Dingas: Adhikaing Diliman, Adhikaing Bayan."

CFA winners

The College of Fine Arts, which does not take part in the wider competition, held its own contest for its entries.

The theme for its floats was "Sining Sine," and classic Filipino movie characters were featured. The Panday float was the CFA's big winner, with Asiong Salonga in second place and Juan Tamad in third.
