Donald Trump calls for sharing of Miss Universe crown —report
US presidential candidate Donald Trump, former owner of the Miss Universe franchise, on Tuesday (PHL time) said he would have made Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia co-winners of the 2015 pageant.
In an interview with the Today show in the US, Trump said host "Steve Harvey is a great guy... things happen, it's live television."
He added he would have made Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez "co-winners."
"It would be very cool," he said.
Harvey made a major gaffe when he announced that Miss Colombia won the Miss Universe 2015 crown.
The 2014 Miss Universe, Paulina Vega of Colombia, had already put the crown on Gutierrez's head when Harvey went back onstage and announced he had made a mistake.
Harvey said the first runner up is Miss Colombia, while the Miss Universe 2015 winner is Miss Philippines.
Vega had to stand between the two beauty queens, take off the crown from Gutierrez's head and place it on Wurtzbach.
Trump said that was devastating for Miss Colombia.
"I would recommend that they go, have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner. And I think something like that could work," Trump said.
"It was a tough evening," he added.
Earlier, Trump tweeted that he was very sad about it and it would never have happened during his watch.
Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!
