Miss Colombia congratulates Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach

After the heartache caused by the controversial coronation of the Miss Universe 2015, first runner-up Miss Colombia Ariadna María Gutiérrez Arévalo on Wednesday took courage and thanked Fil-German Pia Wurtzbach, who eventually won the crown for the Philippines.

In a post on her Instagram account, Gutiérrez said  "I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible."

She was also thankful of the opportunity to be Miss Universe and make Colombia happy for a couple of minutes. On Tuesday, Gutiérrez posted a photo of her brief turn at wearing the crown with the caption, "This moment will always be with me."

After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe ????????. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS. ??

Controversy marred the coronation ceremony after a mix-up in the announcement of the winner, which inexplicably caused Latin American candidates to blame Wurtzbach according to a TMZ source

Host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner. But after apologizing, the comedian announced that Pia Wurtzbach had actually won the crown, the Philippines' first in the prestigious pageant since 1973. —LG/AT, GMA News
