PNoy to lead Rizal Day rites for the last time as Prez on Wednesday

For the last time under his administration, President Benigno Aquino III will lead the commemoration of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal's death anniversary on December 30.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Aquino will attend the flag-raising ceremony at the Luneta Park in Manila on Wednesday morning, the 119th anniversary of Rizal's martyrdom.

“On Wednesday, for the last time during his term, President Aquino will lead the flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of our national hero, Jose Rizal,” Lacierda said.

Lacierda said Aquino has never missed attending the annual ceremony during his term.

“This year, he will continue his tradition of recognizing Rizal's achievements, which serve as inspiration to all Filipinos to aspire for excellence, driven by love for country,” Lacierda said.
