Throughout March, which is National Women’s Month, all female visitors will get a free pass to the National Museum of the Philippines and other museums and sites in select provinces.

The National Museum made the announcement on its Facebook page on Tuesday.

Aside from the usual exhibitions such as the Spoliarium by Juan Luna, visitors can view BenCab's women-centric Larawan and Sabel series at the National Museum of Fine Arts (Old Legislative Building in Manila). His retrospective exhibition, Appropriated Souls, has also been opened to the public.

Women and girls will also get free access to the National Museum branches in Kiangan, Kabayan, Vigan, Angono-Binangonan Petroglyph Site, Tabaco, and Butuan from March 1 to 31.

This perk is in relation to the Serbisyo Para Kay Juana project by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Other activities

For this year’s celebration, the PCW picked the theme, “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda!” It is a call for gender balance in leadership and decision-making positions in both the public and private sectors; the inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions

The PCW has organized events throughout the month in connection with the theme such as the Sama-samang Pagsulong sa mga Agenda ni Juana event on March 16 at Luneta Park and a forum on gender- and election-related violence in Cotabato City on Friday. — Trisha Macas/BM, GMA News
