‘Les Miserables’ cast gives preview for Manila run

The much-awaited Manila run of the legendary musical “Les Miserables” officially opens with a gala night on March 16 at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City.

International cast members include Simon Gleeson as Jean Valjean, Earl Carpenter as Javert, and award-winning Filipina performer Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine.

According to an official statement from Les Miserables Manila, the preview performances of the musical, which started last Friday, was received warmly by the Filipino audience with full houses and standing ovations every night.

On Tuesday, cast members performed some of the musical's best-loved songs for the members of the press.

 

 

 

 

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century revolutionary France, “Les Miserables” is based on the book by Victor Hugo. The musical, with score by Claude-Michel Schönberg and original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, is one of the world's most successful and longest-running musicals. Through several productions, it has been seen by over 70 million people worldwide in 44 countries and in 22 languages.

Cameron Mackintosh's production of the award-winning musical will play in Manila until April 24. — BM, GMA News
