Pia Wurtzbach shows you how to get the ‘pageant look’

The world is three months away from one of the most prestigious international pageants, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach goes on social media to share some of her secrets for the perfect pageant look.

“I have always done my own makeup. I did my own makeup in Miss Philippines and in Miss Universe. Some of the girls do their own and some of the girls have a makeup artist, but if you're like me and you are just starting, this is perfect. This is how I learned, as well—by watching makeup tutorials online,” according to the Filipina beauty queen.

After applying a good primer (so your makeup stays perfect for a long night), Pia shared her first secret: Choose a foundation one shade darker than your natural skin tone.

Why? “Because of all the lights on stage and the camera's flash,” said the Miss Universe titleholder.

Pia also reveals her “baking” and “contouring” routine, her favorite eyebrow pencil shades and her favorite eyeshadow palette (it's from Laura Mercier), why she never uses black or gray eyeshadows and why she's never been a fan of thick eyeliner, and her false eyelashes trick.

According to Pia, “It takes more than an hour because this is stage makeup. It's meant for high definition cameras and strong lights on stage.”

If she has to give one “golden rule” on pageant makeup, it would be “know when to put your brush down.”

“Because you know you're going to be on stage and you have all the makeup in front of you and all the time to get ready, you tend to put more and more and it just looks bad. You have to know when to stop. That's the rule. If I could give one rule for pageant makeup, that's it,” she said. — RSJ, GMA News
