The crown is now on her head, but Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa on Thursday night said that her victory has yet to sink in.
Despite her undeniable elation, the beauty queen articulated her convictions and said that she would continue being an advocate for mental health awareness.
"Depression is something not a lot of people talk about or open up about," Verzosa said in an interview with GMA News TV's State of the Nation with Jessica Soho. "I am here to say that it's okay—it is a sickness and it is curable."
Prior to winning the crown, Verzosa has been vocal about the dangers of stigmatizing depression and anxiety on social media. — Aya Tantiangco/RSJ, GMA News
