Batman unites DC Universe mystics in ‘Justice League Dark’ trailer
Fans of the DC Universe have a lot to look forward to next year with new films and animated features starring the World’s Greatest Heroes—including those who work in the shadows and tap into mystical forces to safeguard our world from demons and evil sorcery.
The upcoming animated movie “Justice League Dark” is based on The New 52 comic book series of the same name and pairs the superheroes with magic practitioners John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, and Swamp Thing in an adventure that requires their particular set of skills and expertise to save the world from devastation.
According to IGN, “Justice League Dark” takes place in the same continuity as the films “Justice League War” and “Justice League Throne of Atlantis,” and sees the League and Earth overwhelmed by supernatural forces. To combat this threat, Batman decides to fight “fire with fire” and enlists the aid of John Constantine, an occult expert and investigator who soon gathers a team of supernatural users and heroes to combat the evil seeking to engulf the world as we know it in darkness.
Featuring the voice of Matt Ryan, who also played the live-action version of Constantine in the short-lived TV series and on “Arrow,” “Justice League Dark” also features the voices of Alfred Molina, Enrico Colantoni, Jeremy Davies, Camilla Luddington, and Ray Chase. Much like the animated adaptation of “Batman: The Killing Joke”, the film will be rated R for “some disturbing violence”. That can only mean good things for those who want a mature representation of the DC Universe. — BM, GMA News
“Justice League Dark” will be released on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Media in early 2017.
