Another ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ trailer arrives to dampen our spirits
We don’t enjoy being the purveyors of bad news, but it seems we’re getting yet another “A Series of Unfortunate Events” trailer. So get those anti-depressants ready!
It’s a delight to see more glimpses of this already promising TV show. This time, we get to witness one of Violet Baudelaire’s inventions in action. We’re also shown scenes from the book, “The Miserable Mill,” where the orphans wind up at a lumber mill and are forced into child labor – among other dreadful things.
“A Series of Unfortunate Events” is based on a series of books of the same name, which chronicles the Baudelaire orphans’ valiant efforts to prevent the sinister Count Olaf from stealing their parents’ vast fortune. The books are known for their dark humor, clever disguises, dead bodies, and a mystery so obscure and convoluted it makes “Lost” seem like “Little Red Riding Hood.”
The Netflix adaptation stars Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, Malina Weissman as Violet Baudelaire, Louis Hynes as Klaus Baudelaire, Presley Smith as Sunny Baudelaire, Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket, Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss, Alfre Woodard as Aunt Josephine, Catherine O’Hara as Dr. Orwell, K. Todd Freeman as Mr. Poe, and Aasif Maandvi as Uncle Monty.
Serving as executive producers are Emmy Award-winning Barry Sonnenfeld and series author Daniel Handler.
The Netflix television series is launching this January 13, 2017. The first season will come with eight episodes. — BM, GMA News
