Liza Diño appeals to theaters to permit four-day extension of MMFF 2016

Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chair Liza Diño on Thursday made an appeal to theater owners to allow a four-day extension of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Citing the "overwhelming" response of moviegoers, Diño made a case to have the festival end on January 7 instead of January 3 to complete a 14-day run.

"The Filipino moviegoers have spoken, and their passion for cinema and for good stories told well has made all the difference," she wrote on Facebook.

"Saving Sally" director Avid Liongoren left a heart emoji in the comments section and added, "Sana po matuloy."

The post has been shared over a hundred times, notably by satirist Mae Paner, Artistic Director for the Cultural Center of the Philippines Chris Millado, and screenwriter Moira Lang. — Aya Tantiangco/BM, GMA News
