World prepares to welcome the Year of the Rooster

On Saturday, January 28, the Year of the Rooster will begin, according to the Chinese zodiac.

Chinese New Year is celebrated in China and Taiwan and in countries around the world where there are huge Chinese communities—not just places like Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and our own country, but even in Europe.

The New Year is celebrated with food, fireworks, feng shui, lion dances and lots of lanterns. From a festival of lights in Britain to an array of odd-looking roosters in Malabon Zoo, here are some of the activities and decorations around the world ahead of the Lunar New Year. Kung hei fat choi!
