‘Sansinukob’: A universe on display at UP Diliman

Seven visual artists from the University of the Philippines Diliman were put on the spotlight as they depicted Philippine stories about the origin of the "sansinukob" or the universe through an exhibit.

In celebration of the UP Diliman Month, art installations now stand on the grounds of the university. The artworks featured were created by artists Junyee, Gerry Leonardo, Rita Gudiño, Anton del Castillo, Leo Abaya, Leeroy New and Reg Yuson.

They aimed to give a glimpse of the "ethno-astrology and ancient cosmology of Philippine cultures," the UP Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts said in a statement.

The Sansinukob exhibit is just one of many events lined up for the UP Diliman month. The university will treat its students and the public alike to song and dance performances, puppet shows, concerts, and film showings.

The Sansinukob exhibit also fits right into the National Art Month.

"Sansinukob sa UP Diliman" will be open to the public for the whole month of February at the UP Amphitheater, UP Lagoon, and UPC CMC Hill. — AT, GMA News
