Batfans, LEGO lovers flock to the LEGO Batman Movie premiere

Holy Premieres of Awesome, Batman! On the evening of February 6, 2017, Warner Bros. Philippines presented one of the most awaited spin-off films of the year—The LEGO Batman Movie—which brings back the brick version of the fan favorite Dark Knight superhero as he gets to spotlight his own movie, beat up bad guys, and be AWESOME… All while trying to learn how to work together with allies and conquer his greatest fear of being part of a family again!

As a direct follow-up to 2014’s highly successful “The LEGO Movie”, this film was highly anticipated by Batfans and LEGO Collectors alike, as it drew influences from pretty much every incarnation of the Caped Crusader and pays tribute to everything that makes DC Comics’ flagship superhero so beloved by millions of fans worldwide.

Attending the premiere dressed in all things Batty or pretty much “Black and Yellow” as worn by Will Arnett’s 3D superhero alter ego, WB Phils’ “The LEGO Batman Movie” premiere happened in the newly renovated Glorietta Cinemas are located at Glorietta 4, Ayala Malls in Makati City.

Much like any film that is aimed towards the family, kids and adults who enjoy LEGO and Batman were there to support and see for themselves just how the Brick Knight saves the day in Gotham City while encountering his extended family of allies and facing villains led by his “greatest arch nemesis” The Joker.

Members of the local Filipino LEGO hobby group Pinoy LUG was also there to support the release of the film by having a pretty awesome diorama display of LEGO Batman’s own Batcave—complete with his many gadgets, vehicles, and just about anything you can expect from the secret Batcave located under Wayne Manor.

Of course it just wouldn’t be Batman without the presence of the Caped Crusader himself, and a group of cosplayers and fans (including this writer here) dressed properly for the occasion by wearing Batsuits and the Batsymbol proudly to support LEGO Batman’s big opening week in the box office!

In addition to an appearance by Classic comic book Batman, Michael Keaton’s Batman, Christian Bale’s Dark Knight, and of course LEGO Batman himself, the Caped Crusader’s friends from the Justice League were also there, with local DC Universe fan and cosplay group Justice PH wearing their superhero attire strong—with Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Robin, and even DC Super Hero Girls all present to give their brooding ally and his multiversal counterparts some support!

Overal, The LEGO Batman Movie premiere was truly an AWESOME experience, and proves that the movie will be a big HIT to kids and adults of all ages! Catch The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters when it opens on Februay 9 nationwide. — Text and photos by Tim Villasor/TJD, GMA News
