‘Logan’ screening brings fans together for Jackman’s last film as Wolverine

One of the most highly anticipated comic book movies coming out this year, “Logan” is not only the final installment of the “Wolverine” trilogy in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Movies franchise but also the last time fans will see Australian actor and Academy Award winner Hugh Jackman playing the role. After 17 years, this is the end of an era.

On the night of February 27th, 20th Century Fox Philippines invited the media and fans to the special advance screening of “Logan” in Greenhills' Promenade Mall.

At the premiere, there was a lot of excitement amongst the audience, with eager fans popping out claws and dressing up as Logan and new character X-23.

Everyone wanted to see this swan song for the X-Men’s most recognizable character, especially since it's gotten such rave reviews: it's at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes as of posting, and IGN calls it "perhaps the best X-Men movie yet." Jackman even says it's “the Wolverine movie he wanted made.”

Brandishing an R rating, the film is set in the year 2029 and sees a tired and weary Logan as he makes a living driving limos to care for an ailing and elderly Professor X, who is once again played by Patrick Stewart.

Shadows of their former heroic selves, the pair spot a chance at redemption when they encounter a young female mutant (Dafne Keen) who has the same powers Wolverine has. With a powerful corporation seeking to expoit her and other young mutants' powers, Logan pops out the claws one last time to fight the good fight and discover what his life and legacy is all about.

Definitely a film that will get people talking and perhaps moved by its raw and emotional content, "Logan" is a definite must-see. Director and story writer James Mangold delivers a perfect western opus for Hugh Jackman and company, and the film has set a new bar for movies in its genre.
