'The Lion King' musical to premiere in Manila in 2018

To mark its 20th anniversary, The Lion King musical is coming to Manila in March 2018!

Michael Cassel Group, a theatrical production presenting prestige live events and concert attractions, announced on Tuesday the first international tour of the well-loved musical.

The company will work with Disney Theatrical Productions, under the direction of Thomas Schumacher.

The said tour, which will be performed in English, will also include performances in Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and South Africa.

Tickets will go on sale in October 2017 for the Manila show.

The Lion King is one of the most popular stage musicals in the world.

It had its Broadway premiere on November 13, 1997, and was only the second show in history to generate five productions worldwide running 10 or more years. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KG, GMA News
