Clues to ‘Defenders’ release date seen in Netflix series’ teaser


After putting out a number of series introducing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist individually, Marvel Studios and Netflix have officially revealed the release date of the show teaming up these street-level superheroes.

“The Defenders” assembles the characters  together as vigilante heroes teaming up to fight a common enemy plaguing the streets of New York City—the evil mystical ninja organization known as The Hand.

In a new teaser video for the series, the four—Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) can be seen in the security footage of an elevator.

The security footage only lasts for a little more than ten seconds until Jessica notices the camera and decides to take care of it permanently. The camera is smashed when the timer reads “08:18:20:17,” signifying that “The Defenders” will premiere on August 18.

According to Entertainment Weekly, there’s more proof for the release date, as a series of numbers seen in the upper left corner is actually a website address. http://23.253.120.81 which will take users to a portal of the fictitious “The New York Bulletin”, with the message “Watch Marvel’s The Defenders All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18.”

Set in the same world as the films and movies that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as “The Avengers” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Defenders” will also star legendary sci-fi queen Sigourney Weaver as a new villain, Alexandra. — BM, GMA News
