Freeman, Caine and Arkin team up for fun heist comedy ‘Going In Style’
What kind of movie do you get when you pair three Academy Award-winning actors who are way past their prime yet still look like they can kick butt? Why, comedy gold and action of course, and “Going in Style” is the perfect vehicles for legendary stars Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin and Michael Caine to shine.
A remake of the 1979 film of the same name, this Zach Braff-directed film is a simple and no-nonsense heist movie with laughs. Three friends are mistreated by the system they have given so many years of their lives for. When they decide that enough is enough after their pensions are unceremoniously frozen, one of the old men is inspired by a bank robbery to do the same and take back what is rightfully theirs.
The film has a message beyond its old men-become-bank robbers storyline: it is also about the camaraderie between these three friends and their concerns about the mark they are going to leave on the world.
Audiences can relate to how crummy and unfair life can be sometimes, and the ways these old guys get back what’s been taken from them in this film are just downright hilarious. Highly recommended and an awesome team-up of these veteran stars.
