Quiapo parish youth stage Holy Week play, decry EJKs
For several years now, the Basilica Minor of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo has put on a street play depicting the suffering of Christ when he was nailed on the cross. On Wednesday, the Quiapo Parish Youth Ministry (QPYM) presented the play at the historic Plaza Miranda, and added a twist.
“Tanging Alay: A musical play Senakulo 2017” was performed by a group of students and out-of-school youth, ranging in age from 12 to 20.
At the start of the musical play, the young performers criticized the rampant extra-judicial killings in the country. They also urged the public to fight for the environment, calling for the dismantling of big and foreign mining companies in the country.

The play was meticulously planned since January this year to coincide with the celebration of Traslacion. Otep Salita, John Rey Sualog and Jeric San Jose directed the musical play, which was written by Jasper Adonis Villanueva and Maan Tataros. — BM, GMA News
