Iconic places of worship in QC featured in new book ‘Facets of Faith’

The Quezon City government on April 10 launched “Facets of Faith: Discovering the Church Heritage of Quezon City”, a book that preserves in its pages iconic places of worship for different religions and sects in the city.

“Facets of Faith”, written by Billy Ray Malacura and edited by Professor Felicidad P. Galang-Pereña, documents the history of St. Peters Parish, Iglesia ni Cristo Central Temple, Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Salam Mosque among others.

A total of 75 houses of prayer are included in the book.

During the launch, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista revealed that the book was originally set to be published in 2015, in time for the 75th founding anniversary of the city.

“Talagang series of books ang plano natin para sa 75th Diamond anniversary ng Quezon City at ito ("Facets of Faith") ay isa sa mga produkto ng 75th anniversary,” Bautista said. “After two years saka ito lumabas. Malalim ang pinanggalingan nito. Ito’y bahagi ng isang programa na pagpapakilala kung ano ang kultura ng mga naninirahan sa Quezon City.”

In addition to “Facets of Faith”, Bautista revealed that they are also looking into releasing a book that documents the success stories of notable Quezon City residents.

"We make sure that it will not highlight the political personalities of the city. Hangga’t maaari ‘yung contribution ng bawat isa, ordinaryong mamamayan na nagtatag ng isang negosyo na ngayon global na," Bautista said, citing the people behind Jollibee, Wilcon, and Max's as examples.
