Duterte, Honeylet attire for ASEAN 2017 to be simple but dignified

Davao-based tailors on Tuesday hinted at President Rodrigo Duterte's and common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña's wardrobe for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

Aside from a purple gown, three simple gowns and two business suits were also being prepared for Avanceña.

"It's very simple pero kuha kasi 'yung shape ng katawan niya," Chardin designer Aris Escarilla said on GMA News TV program "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho".

"They're very simple and very simple to please... tapos ano hindi maarte. Saka ano, maganda kasi 'yung collaboration namin eh because they entrust us ano mga susuotin nila for whichever occasion," Chardin owner Patria Mejos added.

Meanwhile, seven Barong Tagalogs made of piña jusi, eight cotton sleeves, and corduroy pants were being done for Duterte.

"Personalized na embroidered barong sa kanya like 'yung mga may touch ng Mindanao and then 'yung mga may tribal designs po na inspired namin doon sa mga Mindanao ethnic tribe," Chardin designer Bonnie Adaza said.

Honeylet is the official hostess of the spouses of the ASEAN leaders.
