‘The Defenders’ trailer finally assembles Netflix’s Marvel heroes

Netflix has given us four quality Marvel superhero shows (and one critical dud)… and it has all led to one highly anticipated TV event: the assembly of The Defenders.

Now, after years of waiting, we have our first good look at Netflix’s “The Defenders,” courtesy of a new trailer.

Come on, admit it. It felt good seeing Luke Cage lay the smackdown on “the Immortal” Iron Fist.

It looks like “The Defenders” will take a page out of the “The Avengers”: Good guys meet. Good guys squabble. Good guys realize they kick ass real good together. Good guys cooperate to beat bad guys.

Of course, this being a Netflix Marvel show, we can expect more depth, satisfying character development, and hopefully some of the bone-crunching action we first witnessed in “Daredevil.”

The show’s official synopsis reads:

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal — to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

“The Defenders” also stars Rosario Dawson as the long-suffering Claire Temple, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Scott Glenn as Stick, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Eka Darville as Malcom Ducasse.

Elodie Yung also returns as Elektra, who, alongside The Hand and bunch of other characters, will serve as the show’s villains.

The Netflix original series "The Defenders" will launch worldwide on August 18, 2017. — AT, GMA News
