FDCP now accepting entries for ‘Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino’
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is celebrating Buwan ng mga Wikang Pilipino in a big way. Come August, the agency will be hosting "Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino," which seeks to promote Filipino languages and culture by screening local films exclusively in all theaters nationwide for a week.
FDCP is extending an open invitation to producers to be a part of the festival and submit their movies for review. Ten to twelve films will be selected from a shortlist of fifteen.
The FDCP is looking for feature-length films (at least 75 minutes long) with "themes reflective of the Filipino sensibilities culture with wide audience appeal" that were produced in 2016–2017, but have not been released commercially or streamed online.
Films selected by the committee will receive a Certificate of Participation and a guaranteed 3-day screening in no fewer than 60 theaters across the country.
An Audience Choice Award will be given to the most popular film—based on votes from the audience—after the initial 3-day screening.
Seven hundred movie theaters are participating in the event, including Ayala Malls Cinemas, Cash & Carry Cinemas, Century City Cinemas, Cinema 2000, Commercenter Alabang, Eastwood Cinemas, Festival Cinema, Fisher Box Office, all Gaisano Cinemas in the Provinces, Gateway Alimall Cinemas, KCC Cinemas, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, NCCC Cinemas, Power Plant Cinema, Promenade Greenhills, Robinsons Movieworld, Shang Cineplex, SM Cinemas, Sta. Lucia Cinemas, and Starmall and Vista Cinemas.
Aside from the screenings, caravans and forums will also be held during the "Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino."
