New ‘The Mist’ trailer revels in gore, hates eyeballs
Does gore make you want to violently empty your stomach? Then stay the heck away from the new trailer for “The Mist,” a new TV show based on the classic Stephen King novella.
That’s a lot of empty, bloody eye sockets!
The official synopsis for the show reads:
“Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.”
The synopsis doesn’t say what’s in the mist, but that should probably be best left as a surprise.
The cast of “The Mist” includes Morgan Spector (“Boardwalk Empire”), Alyssa Sutherland (“Vikings”), Frances Conroy (“Six Feet Under”), as well as Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Luke Cosgrove, Okezie Morro, Russell Posner, Darren Pettie, Dan Butler, and Isiah Washington, Jr.
Stephen King’s novella was previously adapted into an effective yet underrated horror feature directed by Frank Darabont in 2007 starring Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay Harden.
It seems 2017 will be the year of Stephen King movie and TV show adaptations. In addition to “The Mist,” we’ll be getting “The Dark Tower” movie this August, which is based on the author’s series of fantasy novels of the same name. Then, in September, “It,” which shares its title with King’s 1986 book, will be opening in cinemas. — BM, GMA News
