New series ‘The Crossing’ is about refugees from war-torn future
ABC has released several trailers for its new shows premiering this fall season, and one of them—a science fiction series called “The Crossing”—could be the network’s next “Lost.”
The official synopsis for "The Crossing" reads:
“Refugees from a war-torn country seek asylum in a small American fishing town, only the country these people are from is America—and the war they are fleeing hasn’t happened yet. As the government tries to uncover the truth behind this mysterious migration only one thing is certain: The lives of the people here—both the townspeople and these newcomers—will never be the same.”
The show takes place in modern times, at a small Washington state fishing town. The aforementioned refugees total 47 survivors, who come from a war that won’t happen until 150 years later.
With a story that revolves around strangers in a strange land and people with weird abilities, and a sense of mystery heightened by creeping dread, it certainly has that “Lost” vibe going for it.
“The Crossing” was created by writers Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie. It stars a number of familiar faces, including Steve Zahn as Sheriff Jude Miller and Natalie Martinez as Reece, a woman who seems to have superpowers. Bailey Skodje plays Leah, the little girl in the trailer.
In addition to “The Crossing,” ABC also dropped trailers for other fall season premieres, such as “The Good Doctor,” which stars Freddie Highmore as a young, autistic genius surgeon, and “Deception,” which is about a disgraced magician who helps the FBI catch dangerous criminals. — BM, GMA News
