Netflix cancels ‘Sense8’, fans retaliate

It's confirmed: Netflix has officially cancelled their original series "Sense8", created by the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski.

"After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end," Vice President for Original Content Cindy Holland statement said in a statement, released on Thursday as shared by Buzzfeed's Jarett Wieselman.

"It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world.  We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe and Grant (Hill) for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment," Holland's statement continued.

Actor Brian J. Smith, who plays one of the eight leads (Will Gorski), encouraged fans to use #RenewSense8 and generate support for the show two days prior to the announcement of the cancellation.

Though it trended along with #SaveSense8, goodbyes were said Thursday.

Netflix retweeted the farewell post, which failed to please fans of the show. Several fans posted about cancelling their subscription to the streaming service.

"Sense8" first aired in 2015 and immediately received accolades for its diversity and careful discussion of LGBT themes. It went on to win the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
