Artist Mideo Cruz releases new Marcos-inspired print on the occasion of late dictator’s 100th birthday
Soon after rousing most everyone with his "LordDigs" print, artist Mideo Cruz is at it again.
On the occasion of the 100th birthday of late Ferdinand Marcos, the Nueva Ecija-based artist releases a new limited edition Marcos-inspired print.
Captioning it “Dahil Sa Yo,” Cruz released the print on his various social media channels. It features Marcos’ widow Imelda Marcos holding a towel imprinted with the dictator’s face — a shout out to St. Veronica who offered a cloth to Jesus, so he could wipe his sweat- and blood-ridden face on his way to his crucifixion.
He used photoshop to create one image from several. Speaking to GMA News Online via Instagram Private Messaging, Cruz said the hands and arms on the print is his mother’s. “Yung halo, instead of the sun, moon yung ginamit ko. Sa ilalim, mga bones,” he said.
This is just one of several Marcos-inspired art. When the late strongman was buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani in 2016, Cruz released the “Marcos not a Hero”. There was also the “Nose Bleed” print to protest Martial Law.
Like the “LordDigs” print, this new image is a limited edition of 100 pieces. — LA, GMA News
