Cebu-based publishers to hold book fair debut

SoLine Publishing Company Inc., which is based in the province of Cebu, will be joining the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) for the first time as part of efforts to expand its market and linkages.

Nikki Oguis, SoLine Publishing business unit manager, says the decision to join the MIBF was inspired by the growing interest and demand outside of Cebu on the textbooks, science and technology education solutions and other related materials and publications distributed and produced by the company.

In joining the MIBF, the company expands its reach and opens its doors to establish networks and linkages with international book sellers and distributors.

“It makes perfect business sense to expand our reach to areas such as Manila, which has a bigger market being the country’s capital. Earlier this year, we have expanded to other key cities and towns in the Visayas and Mindanao regions to further strengthen our foothold in these locations,” says Oguis.

Opening the company to other major markets such as Metro Manila is also a way of communicating the company’s commitment of producing high-quality, well-thought and well-written publications.

SoLine Publishing also endeavors to partner with respected and renowned organizations.

“We are proud to be a publishing company that puts premium on quality over quantity. We don’t just produce books or magazines for the sake of publishing them. We are proud to be a Filipino company based in Cebu committed to positively contribute to the country’s publishing industry,” says Oguis.

Phialo Trading Corp. (Phialo), the sister company of SoLine Publishing, will also participate in the book fair.

Phialo distributes coffee table books and paperbacks on Cebu’s culture, heritage and history, among others.

The MIBF will be held from September 13-17, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.  — BAP, GMA News
